Bio
I am a doctor and a teacher. While teaching “Intro to International Health” I caught the “health policy disease” and wrote the book “Chronic Crisis.”
My involvement with healthcare policy began innocently enough. All I planned to do was give one lecture on successful foreign healthcare systems. Soon I was comparing systems, policies, budgets and outcomes.
Along the way I began to see the U.S. healthcare system in an entirely different light. The problems of the U.S. system now seem solvable! If the U.S. were to implement the policies that have made foreign healthcare systems successful, we would have both lower costs and universal enrollment.
The answer does not lie in heavy regulation or in a single payer system. The answer lies in “normalizing” the market for healthcare coverage.
